More About the Author

Biography

David Bjarnson has been a comic enthusiast since childhood. He grew up reading the Sunday paper and enjoyed classics such as B.C., The Wizard of ID, Calvin and Hobbes, Sherman’s Lagoon, The Far Side, Hagar the Horrible, and many others. He used much of the white space of his school assignments as a canvas for his doodles and watched many episodes of various painting and cartooning tutorials.

His interest in cartooning continued as he was able to talk his journalism teacher into letting him make a comic for the high school newspaper. It was nothing great or remarkable, but it was still a good way to spend the class time. Many years later, the idea for Outer Field was sketched out on a spiral-bound college notebook.

Since that time, David has published two books: Outer Field – Boredom Never Dies! and Outer Field – Funny in the Field. The books are a collection of his comics that he has created over the past several years.

Outer Field is a reflection of David Bjarnson and his experiences. Each character is a little piece of his personality even though they tend to take on a life of their own. The ultimate goal is to make people enjoy a few minutes of their day through reading his comic strips—much like he did reading the classic comic strips he grew up with.
